DANE COUNTY (WKOW) -- The Dane County Board says it's taking action aimed at dismantling racism within the criminal justice system.
That includes reviewing the county's bail policies, expanding restorative court alternatives and putting together a joint criminal justice policy committee with the law enforcement agencies from communities in Dane County.
Supervisor Shelia Stubbs says now is the time to act.
"This is the time we will create societal changes and criminal justice reform. This is the time we will stand up collectively against police brutality as a community."
Stubbs says she hopes the county can expand its Partners in Equity grant program, which supports community-based groups that use funding to address systemic racial inequities in the criminal justice system.
