MADISON (WKOW) - Summery temps are back ahead of the official start of the new season this weekend.

The jet stream, comprised of fast-moving winds in the upper levels of the atmosphere, divides air masses. We're tapping into a weak heat dome allowing temps to jump.

Warm upper level flow from the SW

By the weekend, a front moves in from the Northern Plains causing storm chances to increase.

Incoming front for the weekend

A little warmer than yesterday with lots of sunshine and highs in the mid 80s, though humidity levels stay quite low.

Keep the sunscreen and sunglasses handy the next couple of days.

Even hotter in the upper 80s with relatively low humidity and mostly sunny skies.

A bit more humid and still toasty in the upper 80s with an isolated storm chance.

Higher storm coverage is expected by Friday night.

More showers and storms with moderated temps in the upper 70s and low 80s for the first day of summer.

A few storms are possible on Father's Day, but it looks like it'll be a little more hit and miss than Saturday. Temps stay seasonal in the upper 70s.
