Bucks player Connaughton tells Darlington senior about scholarship she won

Maddie Crist is a recent graduate of Darlington High School and even though her senior year didn't end in traditional fashion, she learned of a scholarship she won in a unique way.

Crist was about as busy as a high school kid can be. A three sport athlete, Forensics, Student Council, musicals, you name it, she likely was part of it.

"I tried to be as involved as I could in high school," said Crist. "I was involved in just about every extracurricular activity that we had."

Crist was recently named a winner of a $2,500 scholarship through the Wisconsin Sports Awards Scholarship Contest and the Make It Better Foundation with Cousins Subs.

She learned she won this scholarship from a video shout-out from Milwaukee Bucks shooting guard Pat Connaughton.

"What's up Maddie, my friends at Cousins Subs told me that you are receiving a $2,500 scholarship through the Wisconsin Sports Awards Scholarship Contest, congratulations!," said Connaughton in the video.

"That was really exciting that doesn't really happen ever so," said Crist about the video message from the NBA player.

Crist plans to attend UW-Madison in the fall. Earlier this week UW announced they plan to have campus open in the fall but with limitations.

"Even with that we don't know for sure how it's all going to work. Some virtual and some in person," said Crist.

Crist says she wants to study Communication Sciences-Disorders and Spanish at the UW.
