ATF offers $5,000 reward for information leading to arrest of ‘fire-bombing’ City County Building

MADISON (WKOW) -- The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said it will give a $5,000 reward for information leading to the identification, apprehension and conviction of the man who threw a molotov cocktail at the City County Building Wednesday morning.

According to a Madison Police news release, someone threw the firebomb around 1 a.m.

Dane County Executive Joe Parisi said it landed near the 911 center and started a fire inside the building. Dispatchers had to be evacuated and the backup 911 center was activated.

The City County Building houses Dane County's 911 communications office, the Madison Police Department and other city and county services.

Madison Police released a photo of the suspect.

"We are looking to the public to help us identify this individual," said Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jon Ortiz, of the ATF St. Paul Field Division. "This is a serious crime that put a number of lives at risk. Acts like this will not be tolerated. If you know who threw this device, ATF is offering up to $5,000 for information."
