State Senator says he was attacked during Madison protest, collapses in front of 27 News crew

MADISON (WKOW) -- A Wisconsin Senator said he was attacked by protesters overnight as he was heading to the State Capitol Building.

A 27 News crew came across Sen. Tim Carpenter, (D) Milwaukee, around midnight.

He said he was assaulted for taking a photo of the protest. A few moments later Carpenter collapsed and our crew called 911 to get him an ambulance. He was able to get up and walk away on his own.

27 News saw Carpenter at about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. He said he was doing OK, but Capitol Police are investigating the incident.
