MADISON (WKOW) -- Health experts at UnityPoint Health-Meriter are reminding families to keep up with well visits and vaccinations for your children during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It's especially important for babies and toddlers, to protect them from preventable diseases like measles, mumps and polio.

"Under the age of 2, kiddos get a ton of vaccinations for lots of different diseases that have had outbreaks in the past. So, a concern is, if our vaccination rates drop across the country or across the world even, we could see the emergence of some of these diseases that we usually don't see," says Physician Assistant Rachel Kelly.

Meriter has taken many steps to ensure clinics are safe: mandatory masks for all patients and staff, hand sanitizer available throughout the clinics and cleaning in care areas between patients.
