BALDWIN, Wis. (WKOW) -- Parts of Wisconsin were hit hard by heavy rain Sunday night and Monday.

That led to the death of one man in western Wisconsin.

The St. Croix County Sherriff's Office says the man's minivan went off the road and into a water-filled ditch near Baldwin.

Emergency responders pulled the 70-year-old out of the van, but he died at a nearby hospital.

At least eight families in Baldwin had to be evacuated from their homes because of flooding.

Brandon Momchilovich woke up Monday morning to 18 inches of water in his basement.

He says it's damaged clothes, appliances and family photos.

"It floated stuff everywhere. It's all covered in mud and ruined a few things. It's not pleasant, but it's just stuff," he told WQOW.

He says he's still speaking with his insurance company to figure out what to do next.
