JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- Janesville police have arrested three men for allegedly robbing a man who was trying to return clothing to an Old Navy.
Police were dispatched to the the parking lot of the Old Navy at 2900 Deerfield Dr. around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
A 30 -year-old Milton resident told officers he was approached in the parking lot by a black Toyota with three men inside while he was walking toward the store to return merchandise. The driver threatened the victim with an object that appeared to be a gun and demanded the victim’s wallet. The victim told the suspect he didn't have any money, so the suspect forced the victim back into the victim’s vehicle and told him to drive to the closest ATM.
After retrieving money from the ATM, the victim was told to drive to the TA Express to withdraw more cash. The victim was not able to withdraw any more money so he was told to drive back to Old Navy.
Once back at the Old Navy the suspect made the victim purchase clothing from Old Navy with the victim’s credit card. After exiting Old Navy, the victim was able to get back in his vehicle and drive away.
While heading to the call, dispatch received information about a vehicle matching the description of the suspects' after it failed to stop for a red traffic light at U.S. Hwy. 14 and the ramp to I-39/90 southbound. The vehicle was stopped on the interstate.
The three occupants of the vehicle matched the suspect descriptions and were later arrested. Gerald Hopewell, 45, of Beloit was arrested for armed robbery and false imprisonment, Shay Rogers, 50, of Beloit and Dominick Delao, 30, of Beloit were both arrested for being party to an armed robbery.
The cash, clothing and a facsimile firearm were recovered in the vehicle. All three suspects were taken to the Rock Co. Jail and held for their initial court appearance.
