MADISON (WKOW) -- One of the finalists to be Madison's next superintendent of schools got to connect with community members on Tuesday evening.
Dr. Carlton Jenkins took part in a community conversation on Facebook. He is currently the Superintendent of the Robbinsdale School District in New Hope, MN.
One thing he addressed is reading. He says it's important to look at what we're teaching, how we're teaching it and the science of being able to teach reading.
"We have to start very early, even with our parents in the community to make literacy something big within our community because we know that literacy also influences students' numeracy," said Jenkins.
The other finalist, Dr. Carol Kelly, will take part in a community conversation on Facebook Wednesday night.
