MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- 12 firefighters in Milwaukee face internal charges over the hanging of a black fetus doll at a firehouse.
The fire chief told WISN a crew member found the doll on the street and hung it on a bulletin board.
This happened in February, but wasn't disclosed until this week.
After a several months-long investigation, the fire department announced the charges Thursday.
"The matter that is most upsetting and disheartening was the failure of our officers assigned to Station 2, where an incident like this would be instantly stopped or questioned. The figurine would have been taken down immediately," Chief Mark Rohlfing told WISN.
He says the person responsible came forward right away and it does not appear to be a racist act.
