Bullets strike Madison home overnight, children inside

MADISON (WKOW) -- A home in Madison with kids inside was shot multiple times overnight, according to the Madison Police Department.

It happened in the area of Spaanem Avenue and Ruth Street at about 1 a.m. Monday.

When police got there they found a home had been struck by multiple bullets. An unoccupied crib was also hit. Two vehicles were hit as well.

Police said they found a total of 45 casings from both a handgun and rifle.

The home was occupied by adults and children at the time, but no one was hurt.

MPD crime scene investigator is collecting evidence discovered at the scene, officers are interviewing victims and surveillance video is being reviewed by officers.

Police do believe this was connected to a shooting over the weekend in the same area that was targeted.
