MADISON (WKOW) -- Due to COVID-19 restrictions in Dane County, Forward Madison has announced plans to move its home games for the upcoming season to Wauwatosa.
The team already had moved its training sessions to the Woodside Sports Complex in Wisconsin Dells.
The team will play its home games at Hart Park, located in downtown Wauwatosa. The venue is within the village business district and has plenty of outdoor dining and drink options for fans within walking distance of the stadium, according to a news release from the club. Fans can visit DiscoverWauwatosa.com for more information.
"We explored about a dozen different possibilities for a backup venue," says COO/Owner Conor Caloia. "At the end of day; 1. There really wasn't any options closer. 2. What appealed to us about Hart Park was just the size of the facility."
Under current guidelines, Caloia says Forward Madison could have as many as 1,500 fans at Hart Park. The club averaged nearly 4,300 last season as Breese Stevens Field in Madison.
The team was preparing for the start of the USL League One season, which is currently scheduled to begin next weekend.
Forward Madison's shortened season has not yet been finalized, however, the club is currently slated to play 20 games, 10 of which will be home games.
Forward Madison played their inaugural season last year at Breese Stevens Field in downtown Madison.
