ESPN is reporting the Washington Redskins has made the decision to change its nickname.
A source confirmed to ESPN Sunday night that the NFL team will make the official announcement Monday, but has not released any details about the new name.
ESPN reported last week the team would not use any Native American imagery when it reveals its new name. The current logo of an Indian chief was designed by a Native American in 1971.
In early July, Washington said it would thoroughly review its name many view as offensive. Sponsors like FedEx, Amazon, Target and Walmart released statements saying they'd pull support or stop selling merchandise.
