MIDDLETON (WKOW) -- As Dane County's indoor mask order goes into effect, a Middleton coffee shop appears to be going against the rule.

Public Health Madison and Dane County confirmed Monday they are looking into a viral Facebook post that appears to show a sign in the window of the shop stating, "This is a mask free zone. Please remove mask before entering."

Several WKOW viewers shared pictures of a sign posted in the window of Helbachs coffee shop in Middleton.

Photos of the sign quickly spread on social media, with many people calling out the company, and a few others supporting the move.

The man who made the original post said he took the photo Monday morning. He says when he asked an employee about the sign, he was told "the owner has set a policy of no masks."

The sign was gone when a reporter went to check it out at 1:30 p.m. A manager at Helbachs told the reporter they were not interested in commenting.
