BARABOO (WKOW) -- Health officials in Sauk County say recent testing shows an increase in the number of local COVID-19 cases.

Sauk County Public Health is conducting free COVID-19 testing this week at Ho-Chunk Gaming Wisconsin Dells, in Baraboo.

Health officers said they've seen more cases in the last couple weeks than usual.

"We've tested over 11,000 people in the county so far and we are unfortunately seeing a significant increase in cases," said Sauk County Health Officer Tim Lawther. "We're currently at 316 cases total, which is more than two-thirds of the total cases we've had since our first case in March."

Lawther tells 27 News he expects health officials will test several hundred people during the free testing.

If you missed testing on Wednesday, the site is offering another round of testing Thursday, July 30 from 10 a.m to 6 p.m.
