MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police have made an arrest in a Thursday evening stabbing that killed one person and left another injured.
Authorities booked Travis M. Christianson, 44, into the Dane County Jail on tentative charges of first-degree intentional homicide and attempted first-degree intentional homicide.
Police announced the arrest in an incident report updated Friday afternoon.
An officer used a taser on Christianson after the suspect walked out of his house and advanced on the officer, authorities said. The officer had originally drawn his gun, in case Christianson was armed. When he saw Christianson was not holding a weapon, the officer switched to the tazer.
MPD said they were called to the 3000 block of Dorchester Way at 9 p.m. Thursday.
When officers arrived they located two injured people as well as a likely suspect.
Police say one person died on the scene. The other victim was taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. That person was eventually released from the hospital.
Authorities report the three people knew each other and there is no threat to the public.
