MADISON (WKOW) -- The United Way of Dane County was giving away masks and hand sanitizer to anyone who needed it on Saturday.
People could get reusable masks or disposable ones at the office on Atwood Avenue.
The United Way says it was an important thing to do to keep everyone safe, especially as the statewide mask order takes effect.
"We want to keep everybody as safe as possible, and through doing that, we want to make sure everybody has access to masks and sanitizer if they don't have it," said Hannah Stowell, program manager for United Way of Dane County.
This was a one-day event, but the United Way says if it has enough supplies it could give out more.
Local organizations had donated most of the PPE and sanitizer.
