Domestic disturbance involving gun becomes standoff in Madison

MADISON (WKOW) -- A suspect is in the Dane County Jail after police said they fired a gun inside a home Saturday night, and allegedly threatened family members with it.

Madison police responded to the 1000 block of South Thompson Drive around 10:15 p.m. for reports of a domestic disturbance.

According to police, the suspect fired a gun inside the home and pointed it at a family member at one point.

Once officers arrive, they were able to remove all family members safely. They also evacuated nearby neighbors.

A SWAT negotiator helped get the suspect to come out peacefully.

The suspect surrendered without incident, and has now been booked into the Dane County Jail for several weapons offenses and domestic related charges.
