MADISON (WKOW) -- One person is hurt and three people are out of a home after a fire at a Madison apartment building early Monday morning.

The Madison Fire Department said they were called to the 1000 block of North High Point Road just after 12:30 a.m.

An alarm went off and by the time crews arrived, residents were evacuating.

The fire began in an upper unit in the middle of the building. One person from where the fire started received non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.

"Damages from this incident were minor largely due to the sprinkler system and aided by quick action by firefighters," said a news release.

Three people who lived in the building were displaced. Everyone else was able to go back home.

The Red Cross-Wisconsin says they're helping the displaced residents with temporary lodging and immediate needs.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
