BEAVER DAM (WKOW) -- Beaver Dam High School star Maty Wilke announced on social media she is committing to play college basketball at the University of Wisconsin.

Wilke has been recruited to play at the next level since she was in 8th grade. She was waiting for that gut feeling to make a final decision. On Monday night, that feeling led her home to the University of Wisconsin.

"For me, I feel like I am a very loyal person so the fact that they saw something in me when I was in middle school and they knew that I could help their program just means a lot to me, and I can't wait to give back what they gave to me," Wilke said. "Overall I just had to follow my heart and my gut and I couldn't see myself in another jersey."

ESPN ranks the guard as the 76th best prospect in the nation in the Class of 2021. Wilke helped lead Beaver Dam to state championships the first two years of her high school career. Her quest for a third title ended when the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the WIAA State Tournament this year.
