(WKOW) -- The FDA is updating its list of hand sanitizers that can cause serious problems for consumers.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services says brands that have methanol can cause blindness or even death. Methanol is a substance that can be toxic when absorbed through the skin or ingested.
Wisconsin DHS says thorough hand-washing is the best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19, though hand sanitizer is an effective substitute.
