MIDDLETON (WKOW) -- The Middleton Police Department's National Night Out event was supposed to happen Thursday, but it was canceled because of the pandemic.

So, officers found another way to connect with their community. They set up a parade through the city with other first responders.

One of the organizers says it was nice to see so many people step outside and say hello.

"If we could provide a little something for them and they could see us and have a little smile then it was worth it," said officer Tom Wilson.

The police department hopes to have its normal National Night Out event next year.
