Fitzgerald wins Republican primary for 5th Congressional seat

MADISON (WKOW) -- State Senate Majority leader Scott Fitzgerald has been declared the winner of the Republican primary for Wisconsin's 5th Congressional seat by the Associated Press.


Fitzgerald defeated challenger Cliff DeTemple.

The district will see a new face as Republican Jim Sensenbrenner retires.

Fitzgerald will face Democrat Tom Palzewicz in November.

The district includes includes Jefferson and Washington counties and parts of Dodge, Milwaukee, Walworth, and Waukesha counties.
