MADISON (WKOW) -- The Madison Police Department said no one was seriously hurt in a crash on the West Beltline Highway that involved a squad car.
MPD said an officer had pulled someone over for speeding just before 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Both vehicles, including the squad car, were pulled over on the shoulder. The officer said he noticed debris in the road and moved them to the shoulder, too.
As the officer walked back toward his squad car, another driver hit it.
"I heard a very loud collision noise," the officer wrote in his report. " I then turned and saw my squad car start heading towards me, approximately one foot away from me, where the squad car ultimately went past me."
The vehicle that hit the squad car rolled over and was upside down in the roadway. The officer and the man who was pulled over for speeding provided aid to the young woman in that vehicle.
Police said the squad and another nearby car were hit.
No serious injuries were reported. The crash is under investigation.
