MADISON (WKOW) - After a snow-free stretch of weather, we'll see more accumulations later this week.

We are now in a snow deficit due to a dry start to the year

SET UP
An upper-level low pressure system will drift into the Midwest bringing some more snow. Upper-level systems are generally weak, so despite a longer time frame for snow, there will be some dry time too.

A few peeks of sunshine are possible this morning, but clouds will thicken through the day and with overcast skies by the afternoon.

It'll still be quite mild with highs in the upper 30s.

TONIGHT
Mostly cloudy with temps in the mid 20s.

THURSDAY
Cloudy and a bit breezy with a snow mix developing midday through the afternoon with highs in the mid 30s.

Expect more snow Thursday night.

FRIDAY
Scattered, lighter snow showers to end the week with some dry time through the day and high temperatures around freezing.

SATURDAY
Scattered, light snow will taper Friday night into Saturday morning with around 1-4" totals.

Expect highs around 30° in the afternoon with mostly cloudy skies.

SUNDAY
Mostly cloudy and cooler with highs in the mid 20s and a few flurries possible.

MLK JR. DAY
Mostly cloudy with more flurries possible and highs in the mid 20s.

TUESDAY
Mostly cloudy with a few flurries possible and highs in the mid 20s.
