MADISON (WKOW) -- The William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison will be getting an addition.
The medical center was identified by the Department of Veterans Affairs as a priority for a future Fisher House.
Fisher Houses provide temporary accommodations for the families and caregivers of hospitalized active duty or retired military members and veterans who do not live within commuting distance of the hospital, according to the VA.
“Fisher Houses provide Veterans and their families with a home-like environment, allowing them to be close by their hospitalized loved ones while they receive VA’s world class healthcare,” hospital director John Rohrer said in a news release. “We appreciate this partnership with the Fisher House Foundation and look forward to construction of a Fisher House in Madison to support Veterans, their families and caregivers.”
The timeline for construction will be contingent on land acquisition and other competing Fisher House project priorities.
