DeForest family escapes home safely after fire

DEFOREST (WKOW) -- A DeForest family escaped safely after a fire broke out in their house around 3:45 a.m..

Deforest Windsor Fire & EMS arrived on the scene where smoke and flames were visible from the first floor of the single family home. The fire was quickly brought under control.

Crews from Waunakee and Truax Fire and Dane FD and Waunakee EMS assisted with the overhaul.

Deforest Windsor Fire & EMS reports preliminary damage is estimated at $100,000.
