MADISON (WKOW) -- Gov. Tony Evers has ordered flags to half staff Friday in honor of a Poynette firefighter who died after contracting COVID-19 in the line of duty.
David Jerald Tomlinson had served the Poynette-Dekorra Fire Department for 31 years, according to a post on the agency's Facebook page.
He died on Dec. 6.
In an executive order issued Wednesday, Evers ordered flags to half-staff from sunrise and until sunset on Friday, Feb. 12.
"We are thankful for his years of service, and our thoughts are with Fire Inspector Tomlinson’s family, friends, and the Poynette-Dekorra Fire Department," the governor said in a written statement.
