Police arrested a man in Janesville after shooting at a snowplow driver

JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- Janesville police arrested a man after allegedly firing a gun at a snowplow driver Monday morning.

The Janesville Police Department responded to a call about an armed person around 4 a.m. at the Golden Corral Restaurant on the 3100 block of Wellington Court.

Police reported a man, Vauclan N. Thomas, 25, of Chicago, fired a handgun at a snowplow driver who was clearing the parking lot.

Officers said when they arrived, they found Thomas armed and going into a car that was reported stolen from Chicago. They then surrounded the car and talked with the person. With cooperation and communication, the person left the car without the weapon.

Law enforcement charged Thomas with attempted homicide and operation a motor vehicle without owner's consent.

According to authorities, the snowplow driver was not hurt, but a bullet hit his door just below the window.

The Janesville Police Department is continuing to investigate but said there is no concern to public safety.
