Madison Police looking for person after officers say two ran from crash

UPDATE (WKOW) -- In a press release Monday Madison police are still looking for the driver and are still investigating.

Officers said one of the three vehicles involved in the crash was reported as stolen after the incident.

Police reported the crash was cause when one car hit another and then drifted into the left lane hitting a third car before coming to a rest at the median.

The Madison Police Department used K9 officers to do a track for the two people that left the incident.

Law enforcement reported they spoke with the woman passenger that left and she said she had just met the man driver on Park Street before the crash.

MADISON (WKOW) -- Police are looking for one person and have detained another who left the scene of a car crash in Madison Sunday.

Dane County Communications received call around 12:45 p.m. about a crash on US 12/18 EB near Rimrock Road in Madison.

Madison Police responded and said three cars were involved. The individuals who stayed at the scene had minor injuries.

Police say two people ran away from the crash, though. One was later found and detained by Town of Madison Police.

Officers are still looking for the other person who left.

WisDOT reported right lanes of US 12/18 were closed due to the crash, and traffic was using the left shoulder to get around the incident.

The crash was cleared just before 1:30 p.m.
