MADISON (WKOW) -- Teachers and staff from East High School will join their colleagues from La Follette in a "teach out" protest Thursday, expressing concerns about staff and student safety in MMSD's back to school plans

According to East teacher Carla Oppenheimer, the protest will take place Thursday morning, specifically focused on presenting safety concerns with MMSD's plans as compared to MTI's counterproposal for reopening schools.

"We know that our working conditions are our students’ learning conditions, and so we teach out for the health and well-being of our entire East community," Oppenheimer said in the release.

She also said that other schools will join La Follette and East in the teach out, but did not specify which schools.
