MADISON (WKOW) - Enjoy the warmth while it's here... sign are pointing to a cool down.
Let's talk about the good news first - the warmer weather. A graph with our average temperatures for this time of year compared to the highs in the forecast, you can see just how much above normal the area will be into next week.
The warm up will really begin Sunday because our winds turn out of the south. Until then, we'll remain quiet to end Saturday but the southerly winds will also, potentially, cause fog to develop Sunday morning.
Long range models suggest the ridge that is keeping our temperatures above normal will break down meaning our temperatures will be cooling on down. The first image below is the temperature outlook for the next 6-10 days, the second is 8-14 days out.
The cool down doesn't necessarily mean we'll dip well below our normal highs but it does look like we'll be cooler than normal. This may help the area pick up the normal 7" of snow the area sees throughout the month of March. Perhaps we'll also pick up the normal 2.6" in April too.
