Lightning destroys pine tree outside Wautoma High School

WAUTOMA (WKOW) -- A pine tree in front of Wautoma High School is gone after a lightning strike Thursday morning.

In a video posted to Facebook by the National Weather Service, the tree suddenly explodes into flames and collapses right when the lightning hits.

In the caption, the NWS urges people to stay inside during thunderstorms.

You just never know when lightning will strike. Here is a video from Wautoma High School this morning of lightning destroying a Pine tree. So the NWS slogan "When Thunder Roars Go Indoors" please heed that advice next time you hear thunder. Thanks to WLUK-TV FOX 11 for this video.
