One injured after two silos on fire on the south side of Janesville

UPDATE (WKOW) -- The Janesville Fire Department says one employee was injured in the blast and was transported by JFD paramedics to St. Mary’s Hospital in Janesville.

The Janesville Police Department, Alliant Energy, the City of Beloit, Fire Departments, Town of Beloit Fire Departments and Milton Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Officials responded to the commercial fire at Humane Manufacturing at 1350 Venture Drive shortly after 12 p.m.

The department said the initial dispatch advised that a silo had exploded and was on fire.

According to firefighters, when they arrived the tops had blown off two of the four silos that were located on the exterior of the building and there was light smoke coming from the silos and smoke inside of the manufacturing facility.

Crews said when they entered the building, no active fire was found in the main building.

Fire officials were on the scene for about 3 hours putting out the fire in the silos, that held ground rubber.

The department reported the cause of the explosion is currently under investigation.
