Local volunteer Wayne Bisek wins national Jefferson Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKOW) — A local Jefferson Award winner was honored by the nation’s leading nonprofit focused on fueling personal growth and leadership through public service.

Multiplying Good recognized Wayne Bisek with the prestigious Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award for Outstanding Public Service Benefiting Local Communities.

Bisek founded Buckets for Hunger 23 years ago. He has helped raise more than $2.3 million for food pantries around Wisconsin, totaling about 14 million pounds of food for families.

Bisek was among 11 community leaders recognized with national honors for their commitment to service to others.
