The kids are heading back to school in a few short weeks… and so are bus drivers! Michael Lowery, safety director at Kobussen and Val Zintz, school bus driver, joined us in the studio to talk about career opportunities with Kobussen.

Lowery said Kobussen takes kids to school in the morning, takes them home after school, has a few midday routes and the occasional sporting event, field trip, or weekend route. Lowery said drivers can work as little as four hours a month all the way up to 40+ hours a week.

Both Lowery and Zintz said the drivers have a huge opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the kids they drive.

“It’s just that whole environment of showing that smile, showing the kids that you care about them,” Zintz said. “You’re the first person they see normally in the morning before they go to school, you have to make a good impression and get them [to school] smiling and happy.”
