Special Olympics Wisconsin serves 10,000 athletes around the state, including almost 1,500 in Dane County. They offer 19 different sports, but it’s about more than just competition. Tommy Jaime, director of communication and Pete Taylor, a Special Olympics athlete from the YMCA of Dane County, joined us to share more about how we can help support our local athletes.
One of the most fun ways to show support for the Special Olympics, according to Jaime, is the Cop on a Rooftop fundraiser happening on August 16th from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Dunkin’ Donut locations across the state. Law enforcement officers will be spread out at different Dunkin’ locations all over Wisconsin (including Madison) to raise money for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Wisconsin. Each guest that stops by and makes a donation will receive a coupon for a free medium hot or iced coffee.
