Whether you and your girlfriends are looking for spas, shopping, outdoor activities or all of the above, there are so many great destinations for a girls’ getaway in Wisconsin. Sara Meaney, Wisconsin tourism secretary-designee, joined us in the studio to talk about several hot spots for a girls’ weekend.
You can’t go wrong with a girls’ trip to Door County. Bike or hike through Peninsula State Park, make candles at the Door County Candle Company or experience a traditional fish boil. Door County is a great place to go when you’re looking for a little bit of everything – outdoor recreation, small-town charm and local cuisine.
The Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake offers a unique experience for travelers seeking a one-stop shop. The property won the 2018 Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards and offers on-site dining options, an award-winning spa, a French cooking school and direct sandy, beach access. The resort also has a bounty of rentals for water sports from kayaks to pontoon boats.
Some great spa locations in Wisconsin include the eco-friendly, adults-only Sundara Inn & Spa in Wisconsin Dells, which just completed a major renovation, and The Edgewater Spa, here in Madison.
Check out the Fox River Mall in Appleton, which features more than 140 retailers making it the largest concentration of retail in the state. When you’re ready to take a break from shopping, take a stroll along the Fox Cities Trestle Trail in Menasha – the longest pedestrian bridge in Wisconsin. Other great destinations for shopping include The Third Ward in Milwaukee, the Downtown River District in Wausau, and local shops across Green Lake Country.
