Two arrested after neighbor reports town of Madison burglary

TOWN OF MADISON (WKOW) — Two people were arrested after a neighbor alerted police to a possible burglary early Monday.

Luis Manuel Ortiz, 27, Madison faces a burglary charge and probation violation.

Megan E. Stanford, 31, Oregon, faces a charge of being party to a burglary.

The neighbor called police just after midnight May 14 with a description of a man and woman possibly burglarizing a residence on Burr Oak Lane.

While responding, officers came upon the woman and placed her in the back of the squad car, according to a Town of Madison police news release.

When police arrived at the residence they found the front door open and using a ballistic shield, went inside and found the man hiding in the bedroom.

Police eventually contacted the homeowners who said they knew the suspect, but had not seen him in months and the suspect never had been in the house.
