Cyclist biking in wrong lane when struck by vehicle, according to sheriff

TOWN OF BLOOMING GROVE (WKOW) — A teen bicyclist was injured Sunday after being hit by a vehicle while she was traveling in the wrong lane of traffic, according to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.

Dane County Sheriff’s deputies responded June 10 about 12:30 p.m. to a crash between a vehicle and a bicyclist on Fair Oaks Avenue at Commercial Avenue in the town of Blooming Grove.

The 15-year-old female bicyclist was crossing Fair Oaks when she was hit by a vehicle operated by Mario S. Jeffery, age 37 of Marshall. The girl, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was transported to UW Hospital but was later released.

The crash remains under investigation by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office. 

The driver will be cited for driving without insurance.
