MADISON (WKOW) — In an effort to get more books in the homes of local children, an annual statewide book drive aims to benefit hundreds of young readers in Wisconsin.
Once Upon a Book Drive collects and distributes quality children’s books to child care programs and families in need across Wisconsin.
The book drive has been an annual event for five years and has collected over 23,000 books for Wisconsin children in need with the help of Child Care Resource & Referral agencies and Family Resource Centers, community and business partners, and individual donors.
Jill Hoiting with Supporting Families Together Association joined the Wake Up Wisconsin team to talk about the book drive.
She says they accept new or gently used books that contain educational, appropriate content for children from ages 0 to 12. If you are considering a donation, this year they have a special need for bilingual and infant and toddler-aged books.
