An officer working as part of a Downtown Safety Initiative made contact with the two men after smelling a strong odor of marijuana coming from the rental car in which they were parked, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.

Police say one of the men had a handgun tucked in his waistband and the stolen gun was in the glove box. Heroin, fentanyl, marijuana, and oxycodone were also seized during the investigation, according to police. Many of the drugs were individually packaged.
