Parking garage drug bust tied to Oregon gun store burglary

MADISON (WKOW) – Court records show a drug bust of two Madison teenagers in a city parking garage has ties to the theft of more than a dozen firearms from an Oregon gun store in January.

Anthony Allen, 19 and Brent Hinman-Ali, 19, appeared in Dane County court Tuesday on drug charges, with Allen also charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

Authorities say both teenagers had heroin they intended to sell when they were contacted by Madison Police officers Saturday.  Authorities also say Allen had a hand gun concealed in his waist band, and is not a concealed carry permit holder.

But records show there was also a gun in the glove box of the vehicle the teens were in.

"A records check was performed referencing the serial number and it was determined to be a stolen handgun," the criminal complaint against Allen and Hinman-Ali states.

The criminal complaint also states the gun belongs to an Oregon gun store, but specifying no date for its theft.

Seventeen guns were stolen from Max Creek’s Outdoor gun shop on Park Street January 31.  Two teenagers have been charged in connection with that heist.  In court records of that case, 27 News found the serial number of the stolen, Glock hand gun recovered Saturday in Madison, matches the serial number of a gun listed in an inventory of the stolen firearms from the Oregon business.

At this time, neither Allen nor Hinman-Ali face any charge in connection to their possession of the stolen firearm.  Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne has yet to respond to our request for comment on whether any state charges could be lodged against either of the teens, or whether Ozanne is deferring to federal prosecutors.

One of the teens charged in connection to the January Oregon gun store burglary, 17-year old Jayquan Retelle, is scheduled to stand trial in September.  17-year old Armon Vaccaro is also charged, but it’s yet to be determined if he will face trial.

Authorities have yet to comment on any ties between Retelle or Vaccaro and Allen and Hinman-Ali.

Investigators say Rettelle and Vaccaro are also suspects in a January heist at a Janesville gun store.
