Salvation Army aiding first responders at Sun Prairie explosion

SUN PRAIRIE, WI (WKOW) — Dane County’s Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services response team has been assisting with relief efforts in downtown Sun Prairie following Tuesday’s gas explosion.

Salvation Army organizers say they were overwhelmed by the community support they received at the scene with residents providing snacks, water and Gatoraide, among other things, brought to the Salvation Army for re-distribution to the first responders working the explosion scene.

"I am immensely grateful for the amount of support the community was able to provide and I cannot begin to say ‘thank you’ enough", said Salvation Army Captain Andrew Shiels.

Numerous area restaurants are also providing food for police and fire personnel.
