MADISON (WKOW) – A teen was shot in the hand while in a car Monday afternoon, according to the Madison Police Department.

Authorities say the "targeted act of gun violence" happened on the 2100 block of Sunnyside Crescent just before 4 p.m.

Witnesses told investigators two men approached the stopped car. A suspect fired a gun as the victim dove away. A round went through the window and hit the 19-year-old McFarland man.

The teen later went to the hospital. He was shot in the hand and suffered graze wounds to his back and arm, said police.

Detectives are working to identify and arrest the suspects.
