Bike for a Kid program launches at Verona elementary school

VERONA (WKOW) — This year’s IRONMAN is in the books in Madison, but area kids will benefit all year long.

30 bikes were built on the IRONMAN grounds this past weekend and they were unveiled to students at Sugar Creek Elementary School in Verona on Thursday morning.

The Bike for a Kid program is designed to help kids who may not be able to afford their own bike. They can learn about bike safety and how to ride.

“For now we’re going to stick with in schools so during their normal Phys. Ed. time they will be outside learning how to bike,” said Melissa Ruder, program organizer.

IRONMAN Foundation and Flo Cycling teamed up to assemble the bikes.
