Police: Beloit man admitted to attacking ex-girlfriend

BELOIT (WKOW) — A Beloit man faces five felony charges after police say he admitted to officers he attacked his ex-girlfriend with a knife and hammer.

Prosecutors say Jonathan Castro attacked his ex-girlfriend October 1, in their home on the east side of Beloit. Court documents indicate the two broke up a month before the incident but continued to live together in the home with their son.

Officers say Castro told them he and his ex-girlfriend were arguing, when she went into a bathroom to get away from him. Castro then followed her into the bathroom hiding a 12′ kitchen knife behind his back then stabbed her in the back, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday.

An officer who interviewed Castro wrote in his report Castro said after he stabbed the woman, “Something inside of me said to finish her off,” and he got a hammer from the kitchen and hit the woman multiple times in the head.

Prosecutors say the woman’s ear was nearly severed from her head, and she suffered a skull fracture.

According to the criminal complaint, Castro faces the possibility of more than 100 years in prison if he is convicted on all five felony counts against him and sentenced to the maximum penalty.
