MADISON (WKOW) — Nearly a dozen shell casings have been recovered following a shooting on Northport Drive about 2:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

Early information indicates a gunman fired at a car that was occupied by three people.

A round struck the car’s trunk and lodged in the backseat, but there were no reported injuries.

The shooter and an accomplice fled on foot as officers flooded the area.

Two people are currently detained by Madison police, but it is too early to determine if they will rise to the level of suspects.

The MPD’s Violent Crime Unit is taking the lead in this investigation.
