COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKOW/WSYX) — Ohio State coach Urban Meyer will retire after the Rose Bowl, per team spokesperson.
More details on the retirement are expected to be released in a 2 p.m. press conference Tuesday, according to ABC affiliate WSYX. The press conference will feature Gene Smith, the athletics director, head coach Urban Meyer and offensive coordinator Ryan Day.
Ohio State says Meyer will use the press conference to formally announce his retirement from coaching following the team’s appearance in the Rose Bowl Game. The university said Smith will name Day as the 25th head coach in the history of the program, beginning Jan. 2.
