MADISON (WKOW) — The Wisconsin Tibetan community was celebrating the 29th anniversary of the Dalai Lama receiving a Nobel Peace Prize Award on Saturday.
The Dalai Lama was awarded the prize for his contributions to world peace through mutual respect, cooperation and tolerance.
Tonight’s celebration at Turner Hall encouraged the youngest members of the Tibetan community to follow the Dalai Lama.
“We are also promoting among the youngsters that it is important to follow non-violence, be compassionate and sympathetic towards your neighbors,” said member of the Tibetan Community, Tenzin Lhamo.
Tibetans around the world recognize this anniversary every year on December 10th.
